Best 48V Inverter-Chargers (120V) Ranked

14 48 V pure sine wave inverter-chargers with a built-in battery charger and transfer switch and 120 V output.

Last updated: October 24, 2026

An inverter-charger combines an inverter, a battery charger and an automatic transfer switch. Connected to the grid or a generator, it passes that power through to your loads and recharges the battery bank; when the source drops, it switches to the battery, fast enough on most models that computers and clocks don’t notice. That makes it the usual core of a home backup system or an off-grid home with a backup generator. Check the charger’s current, the pass-through (transfer relay) rating, and that it has a lithium charge profile if you run LiFePO4. Units with a built-in solar charge controller are ranked separately as hybrid inverters. Models with 120/240 V split-phase output are ranked as split-phase inverter-chargers.
