A 12V fridge is a small compressor refrigerator built like a cooler. It runs from a car’s 12 V socket, a camper’s house battery or a power station, and it holds a set temperature whatever the weather outside, down to freezing and below. That makes it a different product from a thermoelectric “electric cooler”, which can only cool to a fixed number of degrees below the air around it. Those aren’t ranked here. 30 of the 87 fridges here have two zones that can be set separately, and 40 can take a battery of their own.
Each size is ranked separately. Prices run from $120 to $1,500. There is no certified energy rating for 12V fridges in the US, and makers state energy use in incompatible ways, so every page says where its figure came from. Only 3 have independent measurements.
