Best Level 2 EV Chargers Ranked

29 Level 2 home EV chargers scored on price, safety listing, smart features, ENERGY STAR, weather rating, cable length and warranty.

Last updated: October 22, 2026

A Level 2 charger runs on 240 V, like a dryer, and adds about 25 to 45 miles of range an hour, enough to fill most EVs overnight. The charger itself is a safety switch with a cable: the car decides how fast to charge, up to the charger’s limit and the circuit it’s wired to. That makes the differences between chargers mostly about safety testing, cable length, how well the box stands up to weather and what the app can do. 21 of the 29 chargers here have Wi-Fi, 18 are ENERGY STAR certified and 19 come with a Tesla (NACS) plug.

Each size is ranked separately. Prices run from $133.90 to $1,011.60, before installation. A licensed electrician should install the circuit, and many utilities offer rebates for smart or ENERGY STAR chargers.
