A cordless inflator lives in a glove box or a bike bag and works without the engine running, which makes it the easiest kind to use for a weekly pressure check. The trade-off is a small battery and a small pump: most will top up all four car tires on a charge, but filling a completely flat tire takes several minutes and a big truck tire is a stretch. Tool-battery models from DeWalt, Milwaukee, Ryobi and Makita are often sold without the battery, so they’re the best buy if you already own that platform. Some also take a 12 V plug for when the battery runs out.
