Cordless robots have no cable to tangle around ladders or the robot itself, and you can drop one in any pool without finding an outlet. The trade-off is run time: once the battery is flat it has to come out to recharge, so check that the rated run time covers your whole pool, walls included. Most now climb to the waterline or float up when they finish, so you can lift them out without a hook.
