Best Split-Phase 48V Inverter-Chargers Ranked

22 48 V inverter-chargers with 120/240 V split-phase output from a single unit.

Last updated: October 24, 2026

A split-phase inverter-charger gives you both legs of a North American home service, 120 V and 240 V, from one unit, so it can run a 240 V well pump, dryer, range or central air as well as ordinary outlets. Like any inverter-charger it charges the battery bank from the grid or a generator and switches to the battery when that source drops. The biggest units, 12,000 W and up, can carry a whole home, but large low-frequency models also idle at 150 to 350 W, several kilowatt-hours a day, so a big bank or a reliable generator matters as much as the inverter. Units with a built-in solar charge controller are ranked separately as hybrid inverters.
