The value pick of Dreame’s range: strong measured carpet cleaning, long runtime and a full self-cleaning dock for about half the flagship price.
Amazon $499.97A robot vacuum cleans the floors on a schedule and drives itself back to its dock to charge. The robot matters less than it used to: most now map the home with LiDAR and steer around cables and socks. The bigger differences are how well it actually lifts dirt from carpet and how much of the upkeep the dock takes on. A basic dock only charges. A self-empty dock sucks the bin into a bag you change every month or two. A self-cleaning dock also washes and dries the mop and refills the robot’s water, so a vacuum-mop robot can run for a week or two on its own.
Of the 70 robots here, 55 have a self-cleaning dock, 5 vacuum and mop without one, and 3 only vacuum. The three are ranked separately. 63 have been independently tested for cleaning, and their measurements feed the score.
Top Picks
A budget all-in-one dock robot for hard-floor homes with pets; its carpet deep cleaning is weak and ECOVACS publishes few US specs.
Amazon $411.36A slim, cheap self-emptying vacuum that cleans carpet and pet hair surprisingly well. Good for vacuum-only homes, if you can find it in stock.
