Best Water Pressure Booster Pumps Ranked

27 home water pressure booster pumps, scored on price per gpm, flow, pressure, protection, noise and warranty.

Last updated: November 2, 2026

A booster pump sits on the water line where it enters the house and raises the pressure when the city supply, a hilltop location or a gravity-fed tank leaves showers weak. These rankings compare what the makers publish on the same terms: how much water it moves for the money, how much pressure it adds, whether it protects itself, how loud it is and how long it’s covered.

Drive is the first choice. A variable speed pump has an inverter that speeds the motor up and down to hold one set pressure, so a shower doesn’t surge when a toilet flushes. A fixed speed pump runs flat out whenever a pressure or flow switch turns it on; it costs less and is simpler, but pressure swings more and it’s louder.

Flow is the second. A small house with one bathroom gets by on 8 to 10 gpm; two or three bathrooms running at once want 15 to 25 gpm.

Protection is the third. A booster that runs with no water coming in burns out in minutes, so dry-run protection matters most on a tank or a weak supply.
