Best Fish Finders Ranked

32 fish finders and chartplotter combos, scored on price per inch of screen, sonar imaging, GPS and maps, screen sharpness and warranty.

Last updated: November 2, 2026

A fish finder is a sonar display and the transducer that mounts on the transom or trolling motor. The screen size sets the price more than anything, so these rankings compare what each unit gives you for the money on the same terms: how much screen, which sonar views, whether it knows where you are and has maps of the lake, how sharp the picture is and how long it’s covered.

Screen size is the first choice. A 5 in screen fits a kayak or a jon boat but shows one view at a time. Seven inches is the smallest that splits sonar and map usefully, and 9 in and larger screens show two or three views side by side.

Sonar views are the second. Traditional 2D sonar shows fish as arches. Down imaging draws a near-photo of what’s directly below, and side imaging sweeps out to each side to find brush piles and fish before you’re over them. The transducer in the box decides which you get, so the same screen can come in several bundles.

GPS and maps are the third. GPS marks waypoints and brings you back to a spot. Preloaded lake maps show contours and depth so you can find drop-offs on water you don’t know.

Prices run from $118.48 to $3,299 across 3 brands.
