The most complete corded mower here, for small lawns near an outlet: all three cutting modes and a three year warranty.
Amazon $239A walk-behind lawn mower is the right tool for most home lawns up to about half an acre. These rankings compare what the makers publish on the same terms: how much deck you get for the money, how wide it cuts, how much engine or battery is behind the blade, whether it can bag, mulch and side discharge, and how long it’s covered.
Deck width sets how many passes a lawn takes: a 21 in deck is the standard, and a 30 in deck cuts the time by about a third. Self-propelled mowers drive their own wheels, which matters on slopes, in thick grass and once the bag fills; rear-wheel drive grips best with a full bag. Push mowers are lighter, simpler and cheaper.
Battery mowers now handle most suburban lawns on one or two batteries, start at the push of a button and need no oil or fuel. Gas mowers still mow as long as there’s fuel and handle tall, wet grass best. Corded mowers are the cheapest, for small lawns near an outlet.
