Above-ground pool pumps sit below the water line, so the water flows into them and they don’t need to prime themselves. That makes them a separate class under the efficiency rules, with their own minimum WEF, and they can’t stand in for an in-ground pump that sits above the water. Most run on a 115 V outlet. Check that the pump’s pipe size matches the filter’s fittings (usually 1.5 in) before buying.
