An ultra short throw projector sits on a stand or console a few inches from the wall and throws a 100 to 120 inch picture upward, so nobody walks through the beam and there’s nothing to mount on the ceiling. They’re bought as TV replacements and nearly all are 4K lasers with built-in speakers and apps. Because they project at a steep angle, any ripple in the wall shows. They look best on an ambient light rejecting screen made for ultra short throw, which can cost as much as a cheap projector.
