Best Forced Air Propane Heaters Ranked

18 torpedo heaters for garages, barns and job sites.

Last updated: October 30, 2026

A forced-air propane heater, often called a torpedo heater, blows a fan through a burner tube and pushes out 30,000 to 400,000 BTU an hour, enough to warm a garage or a framed house under construction. The fan needs an outlet or a battery, and most run from a 20 lb or larger tank on a hose. They’re made for spaces with fresh air coming in, not living areas: every one burns a lot of oxygen, and the bigger ones are loud.
