Best Onboard Marine Battery Chargers Ranked

28 onboard marine battery chargers, scored on price per amp, charge current, features and warranty.

Last updated: November 2, 2026

An onboard charger is bolted into the boat and wired to each battery, so plugging one shore power cord into the dock charges the starting battery and the trolling motor bank at once, each bank on its own circuit. These rankings compare what the makers publish on the same terms: charge current for the money, total charge current, the features that matter on the water and the warranty.

Banks are the first choice: one per 12 V battery. A small boat with a starting battery and a 12 V trolling motor needs two banks; a 24 V trolling motor adds one more battery and a 36 V motor two more, so most bass boats need three or four.

Amps per bank are the second. Divide the battery’s amp hours by the amps per bank for a rough charge time: a 100 Ah trolling battery takes about 10 hours on a 10 A bank and under 7 hours on a 15 A bank.

Lithium mode is the third. A lithium (LiFePO4) trolling battery needs its own charge profile, and older lead-acid chargers can leave it undercharged or never finish.
