Best TIG and Stick Welders Ranked

25 TIG and stick welders, scored on price per amp, duty cycle, features and warranty.

Last updated: November 2, 2026

TIG welding gives the cleanest, most precise welds on steel, stainless and (with AC) aluminum, and most TIG machines weld stick too. Stick welding is simpler and cheaper, and handles rusty or painted steel and outdoor work in the wind. These rankings compare what the makers publish on the same terms: output for the money, how long it can weld at full power, the features that make TIG easier and the warranty. Welders with a wire feeder are ranked separately in MIG Welders.

Process is the first choice. Aluminum needs AC TIG; steel and stainless need only DC, and a TIG welder with high-frequency start strikes the arc cleanly without touching the tungsten. A stick welder is the cheapest way to repair farm equipment and trailers, and most can lift-arc TIG with an add-on torch.

Input is the second. A dual-voltage welder runs on a 120 V outlet for thin metal and 240 V for its full output; a 120 V only welder tops out around 1/8 in steel.

Duty cycle is the third: the minutes out of ten a welder can run at a given output before it stops to cool. Makers rate it at different outputs and temperatures, so each score here is carried up to full output.
