Best RV Converter Chargers Ranked

26 RV converter chargers, scored on price per amp, output, charging features and warranty.

An RV converter charger turns 120 V shore or generator power into the 12 V that runs the lights, fans, water pump and furnace, and charges the house battery while it does. These rankings compare what the makers publish on the same terms: how much current it puts out for the money, whether it can charge a lithium battery properly, how it charges, how noisy its fan is and how long it’s covered.

Build is the first choice. A drop-in section or power center fits where the RV’s original converter sits in the distribution panel, so the breakers and fuses stay as they are or come new in the same box. A standalone converter is wired on its own, often under a bed or in a bay, and suits an upgrade alongside the old panel or a new build.

Output is the second. A small trailer with one battery gets by on 35 to 45 A; a lithium bank recharges faster and heavy 12 V loads run without drawing the battery down at 60 A or more. Units over about 60 A often need a 20 A outlet or their own breaker.

Battery type is the third. A converter without a lithium profile can leave a LiFePO4 battery undercharged or hold it at the wrong voltage, so if you have lithium or plan to switch, pick one with a lithium mode, automatic detection or a lithium switch.
