A tankless reverse osmosis system uses a built-in pump to push water through the membrane as you draw it, so there is no storage tank to refill and it keeps up with a pot or a pitcher. The filters sit in one compact housing that twists out to change, and most send less water to the drain than a tank system. They need an outlet under the sink, and many have a faucet or panel that shows water quality or when a filter is due.
