For landscapers and owners of muddy or sloped land who move heavy loads often. The hydraulic dump saves real effort over a manual tip.
Amazon $2,999A powered wheelbarrow or cart carries the load on its own wheels or tracks and drives itself, so you walk behind it and steer instead of pushing. They suit moving soil, gravel, mulch, firewood and block across a yard or a job site, and the gas tracked models go where a wheel would sink. These rankings compare what the makers publish on the same terms: how much load you get for the money, how much it carries, how strong the motor or engine is, whether it dumps and reverses under power and has flat-free tires, and how long it’s covered.
Build is the first choice. A wheelbarrow has one or two front wheels and handles at the back; it is the lightest and fits through a garden gate, but you balance the load and usually tip it by hand. A four wheel cart stands level on its own and carries more per trip. A tracked barrow runs on rubber tracks, handles mud and slopes that stop wheels, and the gas models carry the most, but they weigh several hundred pounds and need a trailer to move between sites.
Capacity is the second. The battery wheelbarrows here are rated for 330 to 660 lb on flat ground, carts for 500 to 1,100 lb and the gas tracked dumpers for 660 to 1,100 lb. Many makers cut the rating sharply on a slope, so check the slope figure if your ground isn’t flat.
Dumping is the third. Lifting the handles to tip a full load is the hardest part of the job, and a hydraulic or motor dump does it for you. It is mostly found on the heavier carts and tracked machines.
