A pellet stove meters pellets from a hopper into a burn pot with an electric auger, lights them with an igniter, and blows the heat into the room with a fan. That makes it the closest thing to a furnace that burns wood: set the temperature and refill the hopper once a day or so. The trade-off is power: with no outlet or backup battery it stops, so it isn’t the stove for keeping warm through an outage.
