An electric concrete mixer plugs into a household outlet and turns a drum on a stand, so a few bags of concrete, mortar or stucco mix themselves while you set forms or posts. Drum size is the first choice. A drum under 4 cu ft mixes one or two 80 lb bags at a time and is light enough to lift into a car or truck, which suits posts, footings and mortar. Drum material is the third. A steel drum is cheaper and takes rough use; a poly drum won’t rust or dent, and set concrete pops out of it more easily.
