Pros
- Holds a set temperature on its own by modulating the flame, so a small room stays even instead of cycling hot and cold
- Turns down to 3,000 BTU/hr, low enough to run steadily in a bedroom or office without overheating it
- Five years on parts, 10 on the heat exchanger and 2 years of labor, the longest cover here
- Quiet at 27 to 36 dB, so it suits a bedroom
Cons
- Costs over $1,400 for 8,000 BTU/hr, many times the price per BTU of a basic millivolt wall furnace
- Needs a 120 V outlet, so it stops heating in a power outage
- Rinnai recommends professional installation, which adds to the cost
