Best Gas Chainsaws Ranked

20 gas chainsaws.

Last updated: October 31, 2026

A gas chainsaw runs a two-stroke engine on a mix of gasoline and oil. Bigger engines pull a longer bar through hardwood faster, and a tank of fuel lasts far longer than a battery. In return you get more noise, vibration and weight, and the upkeep of fresh fuel, air filters and spark plugs. A 40 to 50 cc saw with an 18 in bar is the usual pick for firewood; 50 to 60 cc with a 20 in bar handles felling and big rounds.
