Best Handheld Laser Welders Ranked

20 handheld laser welders, scored on price, laser power, functions, portability and warranty.

Last updated: November 3, 2026

A handheld laser welder fuses metal with a focused fiber laser beam aimed through a gun, much like a TIG torch but faster and with far less heat spread. Most also swap in a cleaning head to strip rust and paint, and a cutting nozzle for thin sheet. These rankings compare what the makers publish on the same terms: what it costs, how much laser power it has, what it does besides welding, how easy it is to move and power, and how long it’s covered.

Laser power is the first choice. A 700 to 1,200 W machine welds sheet metal and light brackets up to about 3 to 5 mm of steel. A 1,500 W machine handles most small shop work. A 2,000 W or 3,000 W machine welds thicker steel in one pass and keeps up on long production runs.

Cooling is the second. An air-cooled welder uses fans, so it weighs less and has no coolant to fill, drain or keep from freezing. A water-cooled welder carries a chiller, which keeps the laser cool through long runs but often brings the cart to 170 lb or more.

Warranty and support are the third. Many of these machines are sold only through Amazon by overseas makers, so a long published warranty, and a maker with a US store, count for a lot when a laser source or chiller fails.
