Most handheld laser welders sold to small shops and hobbyists are rated 700 to 1,500 W. The smaller air-cooled machines weigh 30 to 110 lb and weld sheet metal up to about 3 to 5 mm of steel; a few run on a household 120 V outlet. The 1,500 W carts usually add a water chiller, weigh around 170 lb and weld about 4 to 5 mm in one pass.
