Best Flat Tow Bars Ranked

20 flat tow bars for towing a car behind a motorhome.

Last updated: November 3, 2026

A flat tow bar links the motorhome’s hitch to a baseplate bolted to the car’s frame, so the car rolls behind on all four wheels. The best bars have arms that telescope, center and lock as you pull away, so one person can hook up without lining the car up exactly. Non-binding latches let you unhook on a slope or at an angle without rocking the car. Most fold up and ride on the motorhome receiver between trips.
