The largest 12 V claim here at a low price, on a 20 cc compressor, which is the reason to doubt 13,500 BTU.
Amazon $372.92A parking air conditioner runs from the vehicle’s batteries so a driver can sleep in a cab or work in a van with the engine off. Most are two-piece “mini split” units: a compressor and condenser box mounted outside behind the cab, and a small evaporator inside, joined by refrigerant lines. Under-dash kits put everything in one housing under the dash or seat. Sellers on Amazon offer dozens of them at $250 to $700, and many are the same factory design sold under different names.
Voltage comes first. A 12 V unit pulls roughly 60 to 80 A, which needs heavy cable and a large battery bank; a 24 V unit draws about half that current. Match the unit to the truck’s electrical system, not to the battery you plan to add. Each voltage is ranked on its own, and under-dash kits have their own list.
BTU claims need a second look. Many listings state 10,000 to 13,500 BTU while giving an input power of 750 to 960 W. A battery-powered compressor does not produce that much cooling per watt, and several listings give a cooling figure in watts that works out to fewer BTU than the headline number. These rankings credit claimed cooling only up to 11 BTU per watt of input, so an inflated claim does not win on value.
Most listings leave out the basics. Few publish a warranty, and most do not ship with refrigerant, so a buyer has to add R134a and usually pay a shop to charge the system. Where a figure isn’t published here it is marked, not guessed.
