The budget way to get 1,800 W; fine for occasional shop use.
Amazon $229.90A handheld induction heater (a “flameless” heater or bolt buster) wraps a coil around a rusted nut or bolt and heats it in seconds with a magnetic field, so it expands and breaks the rust bond without a torch near fuel lines, brake lines or paint. These rankings compare what the makers publish on the same terms: what each costs per kilowatt, its rated output, how many coils come in the kit, the warranty and the weight.
Output is the maker’s claim. Induction Innovations, the US maker of the Mini-Ductor line, prints 1,000 W to 1,800 W for its tools. VEVOR sells the same kind of tool from 1,000 W to 1,800 W for a third of the price. Nobody publishes a heating test, and the rated watts say little about how fast a given bolt heats, which depends on the coil and the steel. Each page notes where the figure came from.
Only models with a published model number and a maker spec page are ranked. The Amazon search results are full of kits sold under throwaway names with a wattage in the title and nothing else; those are left out. Milwaukee and Snap-on do not make their own induction heaters (Snap-on has sold the Mini-Ductor II), so neither is ranked.
Budget or brand. The VEVOR kits cost $150 to $230, hold a 12-month warranty at best and several print no warranty at all. The Mini-Ductor line costs $400 to $650, carries one or two years of warranty and is built in the US. For a few jobs a year, an import kit is enough. A shop that uses one daily is paying for the support.
